I was in Bangkok back in January and one of my must see places to visit is Chinatown.

I wandered around the side streets where there is wall to wall people and vendors.

Of course then there is the food.

Sumitra Senapaty is a internationally known travel writer who resides in New Delhi, India.

Sumitra created the WOW Club, Women on Wonderlust where she acts as your personal assistant to handle all of your travel arrangements with her club.

I interviewed Sumitra recently as she is preparing for her upcoming trips to South Africa, China and Egypt.

The picture at the top of this blog is from my trip to Thailand in late 2007 and early 2008. The scene is of the famous backpacker’s street, Thanon Khao San in Bangkok.

The picture captures my theme perfectly; the lone backpacker walking down the street dragging a red suitcase behind him. First, does that qualify him as a backpacker and second, Tip #1, travel light.

Thailand was my first international trip alone. After a 20 hour flight from Toronto, Canada I arrived around 11 am in the morning. Tip #2, do not accept a ride from anyone other than the taxis in the official area. I received many offers and they were all more expensive than a real taxi’s fare.

I arranged a private tour guide, Blissy Bee, who was born in Thailand. However she attended school in the States and her English was perfect. Considering my Thai was less than adequate she was a life saver.

This blog is dedicated to the solo traveller.

My goal is to have useful posts from safety tips to great places to see. I will even feature special tours designed for the solo traveller.

Whether you are a man or women, you can travel alone with confidence and have a great time.
